#27

Hello there! If you're just joining me and wondering what's going-on here, I'm doing a three-tiered year-end countdown to 2019 throughout the month of December. I'm sharing some of my favorite photos from the past 12-months and counting-down my Top-30 favorite NEW songs of 2018. I'm also counting-down 30-songs from albums celebrating milestone anniversaries to mark my 30th year in radio broadcasting!

Working as a helicopter reporter for WBZ NewsRadio 1030 in Boston, I'm truly blessed to have the incredible view I'm treated to twice-a-day all year long. It certainly opens up numerous unique photo opportunities over the Boston area, but every now and then I like to head out on-foot and see the places I've become accustomed to seeing from 900-feet-up from a fresh perspective on the ground. Today's shot is one of those...

Over the past couple years, I've become interested in capturing images of the city and nature together. I took this photo of the Hancock Tower from one of the islands on the Charles River Esplanade. You can take-in this view yourself as there are footbridges leading onto the island and during the Summer months, Night Shift Brewery of Everett runs a beer garden here!

We have reached #27 in the Top-30 countdown of my favorite NEW songs of 2018. That spot goes to Django Django! They are a four-piece band out of London that cover a number of different styles including art-rock, progressive-rock, pop, and psychedelia. They just recently finished-up a tour that stopped at The Paradise in Boston back in October.

"Marble Skies" is the third studio-LP from Django Django. It was released when the year was young back in January and I've selected the neo-60's track "Tic Tac Toe" for the countdown!

Today's Anniversary-30 selection is from an album that was in the radio station record bins when I first started my radio career at 90.7 FM WKKL (on Cape Cod) back in 1988.

Scottish-Irish group, The Waterboys got together back in 1982 and has undergone many lineup changes over the years. "Fisherman's Blues" was their fourth album and it marked a stylistic change for the band as they added more traditional Irish and Scottish elements to their music. It would go to become their best selling record. "Fisherman's Blues" turned 30-years-old this year. Let's celebrate that by adding the title-track to the Anniversary-30 playlist. Happy listening! -Kristen
