I'd like to take a moment to thank you for listening all this year, whether you hear me in the helicopter on WBZ News Radio or follow my music website at Kristen-Eck-Radio.com. I’ve had a lot of fun, but my own personal journey has a new chapter waiting for me.
On Tuesday September 10th, I will undergo my gender-affirmation-surgery at Boston Medical Center. This is something I’ve dreamt-of since age-five when I realized I was a girl born-into a male body.
Since I began my transition in 2015, I’ve found an incredible sense of happiness in the present and in simple things… The sight of a sunflower or a bee buzzing around it… The smell of a Summer-evening rain… And of-course music.
From the moment I first confiscated my parents’ transistor-radio in 1974, music and the radio were my constant companions. It seems only fitting that my career found me becoming part of what has been a beacon throughout my life.
I will be absent for a bit, while I recover from my surgery, but will be working hard each day to rejoin you. Whether it’s a social-media post or a blog-entry, I’ll be sharing my thoughts and music as soon as I can type. For now I leave you with two songs…
I’ve added “Always Love” by Nada Surf to the Mixed-Up Memories playlist and a new song from Sufjan Stevens to the Knock Knock: New Music playlist that pretty-much sums-up all of this… It’s called, “Love Yourself.” Please make sure that you do and I’ll see you again soon... Happy listening! -Kristen
