Welcome back for more fun with the 2019 30/30 Countdown! As I mentioned yesterday, I’m presenting TWO musical countdowns throughout the month of December.
The Favorite-30 focuses on NEW music and today we find Fred Deakin hanging-out at #29. Deakin is multi-faceted artist, professor, and musician from London, who was one half of the electronic duo Lemon Jelly. His newest endeavor is a 19-track 72-minute Sci-Fi rock-opera entitled “The Lasters.” The story according to Deakin, “...Is set in a dystopian near-future and tells the tale of the Earth’s last family.” Three additional vocalists help-out with tracks on the album, including the beautiful & haunting song, “The End of the World." It's a standout piece from the record and one of my favorites of the year!
Over on the Anniversary-30 countdown we have the debut album from Athens, Georgia Alternative-Dance icons The B-52’s. Released in July of 1979, it’s 40-years-old and while most of us know the hit, “Rock Lobster,” there’s a bunch of other fun tunes on this record! Why don’t we “Dance This Mess Around?” Yes? Excellent! Happy listening! -Kristen
