Kristen Eck's 2019 30/30 Countdown: #22

Hey! Hi there… Nice to see you again for my 2019 30/30 Countdown! We’ve reached #22 on the Favorite-30 and that brings us to Akron, Ohio duo The Black Keys. Their 9th studio album “Let’s Rock” is their first release since 2014’s “Turn Blue.”

Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney decided to self-produce the record after working with Danger Mouse on the previous four albums. Of note on the new LP is that there are no keyboards to be found anywhere. Let’s go with the lead-single, “Lo/Hi.”

David Bowie’s second album was originally an eponymous release in Britain and was called,

“Man Of Words/Man Of Music” here in the U.S. when it came out 50-years-ago. It would eventually be re-released everywhere under the title, “Space Oddity,” until recent years when it reverted back to just “David Bowie.” Got it?

The record received mixed reviews and didn’t do especially well until Bowie made his commercial breakthrough as Ziggy Stardust. The the album then charted and by 1973 had sent a single to #15 on the American pop-charts. That song was “Space Oddity” and it’s #22 on the Anniversary-30 Countdown. Happy listening! -Kristen
